Scientific direction:
Determine the spread level of nonspecific pulmonary diseases. Determine the volume and characteristics of curative and preventive actions applied to patients with nonspecific pulmonary diseases. Develop objective criteria for medical and social expertise of patients with chronic bronchial pathology. Optimizing early detection and study of pathogenic and clinical aspects of diagnosis and treatment of pulmonary hypertension in chronic obstructive bronchopneumopaty.

Tuberculoza a fost depistata si la mumiile egiptene. Ftizia a fost considerata intotdeauna o boala grava, de cele mai multe ori cauza de deces.

In trecut, lupta cu boala se ducea cu odihna, hrana buna, cura sanatoriala la munte. Descoperirea medicamentelor antituberculoase a schimbat radical evolutia bolii, care a devenit o simpla boala infectioasa vindecabila. Din pacate, mentalitatea ca este o boala rusinoasa si teama de fosta boala fatala s-au pastrat si astazi.

Robert Koch a descoperit bacilul care-i poarta numele la 24 martie 1882. De aceea, in fiecare an, data de 24 martie este dedicata Zilei Mondiale a Tuberculozei.
